Fri, 06 Dec 2013

Established in 1976 as a railway and aeronautical engineering company, Britain's IAD (International Automotive Design) rapidly oriented its expertise towards the automotive industry providing services from design to chassis engineering and even small-scale production. By the mid-80s two concepts had been presented – the TRX and the Arrival – that showed innovative thinking and tastefulness but a little innocuous styling. In an attempt to attract both attention and more clients, IAD CEO John Shute asked his team to design a futuristic concept that was both innovative and different.

Chrysler reveals 200C electric vehicle concept at the Detroit auto show

Sun, 11 Jan 2009

Chrysler LLC jolted automotive journalists ready to see the world premiere of four production-vehicle-based electric cars and trucks at the Detroit Auto Show, adding a surprise electric show car dubbed the 200C EV. Chrysler co-President Jim Press said the 200C and other electric vehicles show "there's evidence here of ongoing investment in the future." The stylish concept car features the same range-extending electric drive system deployed in several other production-intent Chrysler EVs revealed at the Detroit show, including the Town & Country EV minivan, Jeep Wrangler Unlimited EV and Jeep Patriot EV. Chrysler also unveiled the all-electric plug-in Dodge Circuit EV, a Lotus Europa-based electric concept with an estimated range of 150-200 miles.

Who's Where: Peter Schreyer appointed President of Kia Motors

Fri, 28 Dec 2012

Peter Schreyer has been been appointed President of Kia Motors after holding the position of Chief Design Officer since 2006. Schreyer is the first non-Korean to hold the position within the company and one of the highest-ranking designers in the history of the industry. Schreyer, who is now 59, moved from the VW Group to transform the historically 'dull-but-worthy' Kia product range into one of the strongest and most design-led in the industry through stand-out production cars such as the Picanto and Sportage as well as a diverse range of concepts from Pop to GT.
