South Lyon, Michigan, United States
Weston Fifth Wheel for Testing / Calibration of Speedometer, Distance, etc. Unit was used at Chrysler Engineering then at Specialty Vehicles Inc. until the past year. Specialty Vehicles used it for testing Saleen manufactured performance cars. Sensor is from the 1960's but they have not changed since then. This sensor was tested and is WORKING. It comes with quite a few brackets for attaching to back bumpers, chassis, etc. Almost always have to make an intermediate bracket. Below picture of one of these from today. They perform the same way. Technology has not changed. The B/W photo in the above is of the exact Weston unit that I am selling from the late 60's. These use a spring on the bracket to keep a down force applied to the wheel to maintain best contact with the ground. The Fifth Wheel will come packed in the original wooden crate. It will ship freight due to size weight. approx 125 # and 17" x 30" x 47" also in photos. Applications • Speed Measurement • Acceleration Tests • Brake Tests • Stopping Distance Tests • Tire Tests • Vehicle Development This will ship through Fastenal: call them for a quote using the dimensions / weight I have listed above. I can drop off at my local Fastenal. They will ship it to the nearest one to you. Local pickup is FREE. |

Hyundai confirms luxury Genesis Brand to take on Lexus & Infiniti
Tue, 25 Oct 2011Hyundai are planning to launch the Genesis Brand (Hyundai Veloster pictured) The rise and rise of Hyundai (and Kia too) has lead to speculation for some time that the next stage in their evolution is a proper luxury brand to take on Infiniti and Lexus, and it’s now confirmed that Hyundai will be launching the ‘Genesis’ brand within two years. Not to be confused with the ‘Not for the UK’ Hyundai Genesis, the Genesis brand will be a range of cars from Hyundai offering real competition for the luxury brands from Nissan and Toyota, but with a dose of Hyundai pricing and warranty thrown in to the mix. Hyundai’s product manager in Australia – Roland Rivero - has come out and confirmed that the Genesis brand is in the making and will initially – at least in Australia – offer two RWD cars.
NHTSA proposes rules for automakers to add sound to hybrids, EVs
Mon, 07 Jan 2013Automakers would need to make hybrids and electric vehicles emit sound under rules that the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration proposed on Monday. The rules, ordered by Congress three years ago, are meant to protect pedestrians and bicyclists from vehicles that make little sound when using electric power. NHTSA says that designing the vehicles to make noise at speeds below 18 mph would prevent about 2,800 injuries over the life of each model year of vehicles.
