Vintage Breton Prayer St Christopher Metal & Enamel Plate Made For A Boat on 2040-parts.com
Montgomery, Alabama, United States
Very neat old metal plate for the devout boater which features a beautiful enamel sailboat scene and St Christopher medal inset. Metal plate is approximately 3.75" wide and 1-5/8" high although to the tip of the sail is 2" high. Surface of plate is extremely detailed and features lines from the classic Breton Fisherman's Prayer, which was from a poem by Winifred Ernest Garrison-" O Lord My Boat Is So Small, And Your Sea Is So Great". Outer border features a block or rope design and there is a large fish surrounding the mounting hole on each end. It is also stamped Italy in the lower right corner. Overall good condition although the metal does show some weathering. Not sure of the metal, it might be brass? Could be cleaned up or polished if desired but I will leave that up to you. Enamel is in excellent condition with no chips, or damage. Thanks for looking.
