Porsche makes £14k on every car it sells, Bentley makes £12.7k
Fri, 14 Mar 2014Porsche made £14k on every car sold in 2013 If you need an illustration of how much more profitable high-end sports and luxury cars are than mainstream cars, VW Groups sales figures demonstrate it perfectly. At the extreme ends of the profit per car spectrum, Porsche made an enviable £13,931 for every car it sold in 2013 and VW made just £615 (although SEAT actually lost £330 on every car it sold) . In fact, although you might expect the higher-priced Bentley range to make more per car than a Porsche, Bentley only managed a creditable second place on VW Group’s profit per car table, turning in £12,700 profit for every car it turned out (11,000 of them in 2013).
US Government urged to promote diesel cars, NOT electric & hybrid
Wed, 28 Dec 2011Diesel cars best option says former US Transport Secretary Former American Transport Secretary Norman Mineta is urging the US Government to promote high efficiency diesels instead of electric and hybrid cars. Just like the UK government, the US government seems obsessed with promoting electric and hybrid cars as the way of the future, something anyone who really knows cars will tell you is a nonsensical approach. Hybrid and electric cars are too costly to produce and have little appeal for the car buying public.
2014 Range Rover & Range Rover Sport updates – includes 4.4 V8 Diesel for Range Rover Sport
Thu, 05 Sep 2013The 2014 Range Rover gets a Black Design Pack (pictured) The new Range Rover has only been with us for five minutes (well, a year), but that’s not going to stop Land Rover from throwing in a few tweaks for 2014. Perhaps top of the list is the new model Range Rover – the Range Rover Hybrid - which is currently busy driving down the Silk Trail to India and promises the same sort of performance as the TDV8 but with economy that betters the 3.0 litre TDV6. The hybrid version of the Range Rover will also be joined by a hybrid version of the new Range Rover Sport, with 44.1mpg and emissions of 169g/km making the Range Rover and Sport a more appealing BIK option.
