Large openings on the sides of the tool allow air to escape quickly from the tire. This is the Audi A1 Quattro, a 252bhp and four-wheel drive hot hatch that’s as exclusive as an R8 GT Spyder. Just 333 Audi A1 Quattros will ever be built so they’ll be a rare sight on the road – and particularly in Britain as the entire production run is left-hand drive, and Audi UK will import a tiny number only if there’s enough customer interest. So I probably can’t afford an Audi A1 Quattro, and I might never see one – what am I missing out on?

Opel/Vauxhall today asks students: "What do you think is our lounge style?" as part of a new, interactive design competition being launched with Car Design News. The competition is for students studying at design schools (of any discipline) in Europe, and will be in two stages: Stage 1 is the interior, and then Stage 2 the exterior. It culminates in a display of the work of the finalists and announcement of the two winners at the Geneva Motor Show in March 2011.

CHRIS EVANS has announced his popular Carefest shows will take place again in 2014, with dates confirmed as 1-3 August and 22-24 August. Hosted by the car-loving Radio 2 DJ, Carfest North on 1-3 August will be held at Oulton Park racing circuit in Cheshire. Three weeks later, Carfest South will take place at Laverstoke Park in Hampshire, owned by former Formula One World Champion Jody Scheckter, on 22-24 August.
