I MADE THESE PLATES OUT OF 4130 CHROME MOLY THEN HAD THEM HEAT TREATED TO THE SAME HARDNESS AS LOCK UP BUTTONS. HELD IN WITH 10-32 BUTTON HEADS WITH RED LOCTITE. THEY HAVE BEEN IN BIKES FOR OVER 10 YEARS WITHOUT A FALIURE. MY OLD 90 GSXR1100 70" STREET TIRE BIKE WENT 1.28 60 FT. WITH ONE OF THESE. Ferrari say the fires on the 458 Italia are caused by the glue attaching a heat shield catching fire under high temperatures. Which sounds extremely odd, but that’s the explanation.
