London to increase pedestrian crossing countdowns
Tue, 15 Jul 2014MORE PEDESTRIAN crossings will get "how-long-have-I-got?" countdown signs as part of a new safety action plan for London's roads. The pedestrian countdowns will be extended to include around 10% of the capital's crossings, Transport for London (TfL) said. The plan also includes trials of innovative collision detection software on London buses this summer.
Mullin Museum to open next month
Fri, 19 Mar 2010What promises to be one of the most significant automotive-museum openings in decades will take place next month when collector Peter Mullin opens the Mullin Automotive Museum in Oxnard, Calif. Graceful and elegant Delahayes, Delages, Talbot-Lagos, Voisins, Hispano-Suizas and Bugattis will all be on hand, wrapped in voluptuous forms from coachbuilders Chapron, Figoni et Falaschi, Gangloff, Vanvooren, Labourdette, Letourneur et Marchand and Saoutchik, among others.
Hyundai arrives in Piccadilly Circus
Thu, 29 Sep 2011Hyundai arrives in Piccadilly Circus If you want a clear sign of how mainstream Hyundai has become, the news that it’s taken over the iconic billboard display in Piccadilly Circus from Sanyo is as much evidence as you need. Piccadilly Circus is the UK version of Times Square, and the neon signs have been a splash of international colour washing over Eros for a century, during which time there have been just fifty brands showcasing their wares to the 50 million or more passing Londoners – and visitors – every year, not counting the millions more who see the signs on Piccadilly Circus postcards that still wing their way round the world. The new Hyundai spot – which has been the Sanyo space for the last 33 years – is the last of the spaces to rely on neon lights to get its message across.
