Toyota says software glitch in data boxes can give faulty speed readings

A top Toyota executive says the crash data boxes in its vehicles are reliable but a bug in the software that reads the information can provide inaccurate vehicle speeds. The disclosure comes as the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration continues its investigation into unintended acceleration of Toyota models. “Toyota has acknowledged previously that the event data recorders are not accurate,” said Takeshi Uchiyamada, executive vice president in charge of research and development.

These are the first pictures of the forthcoming Peugeot 308 that replaces the 307.  The car will compete predominantly in the lower medium European C-sector along with the Opel Astra, Ford Focus, the class leading Volkswagen Golf, and its PSA sibling: the Citroen C4. Fuel prices 'rising again'

THE AUTUMN dip in petrol prices failed to stimulate sales and the cost of filling up is rising again, according to the AA. Drivers in small market and coastal towns are particularly suffering from high prices, with the dearest petrol found in East Anglia and Wales, the AA said. It added that between mid November and mid December, the average UK price of petrol rose from 130.44p a litre to 131.17p, while diesel increased from 137.78p to 138.61p.
