Fiat 500 1.3 MultiJet Sport Review & Road Test Part 2

Thu, 17 Jun 2010

The cute & stylish Fiat 500 dashboard Even though the 500 looks cute and cuddly – which it is – its innocent, retro look belies the fact that the 500 is a surprisingly good drive. A 1.3 diesel isn’t an engine I was expecting to be overly entertaining -even if it is one of Fiat’s new MultiJet jobs –  but I was pleasantly surprised. Below 2000 rpm it’s a bit slow and sluggish and, if I am really honest, a bit of a let down.

Land Rover Freelander 2 HSE Review & Road Test Part 2

Wed, 19 May 2010

Part 2 of the Freelander 2 Raod Test and review If you look at the Freelander 2 and compare its style to its modern rivals – such as the Audi Q5 – it looks a bit staid and frumpy. But change your perspective just a little and it becomes a convincing interpretation of an urban Land Rover. It’s bigger then its predecessor – taller and wider with an extra 4″ in the wheelbase – and it feels a much more grown-up vehicle than it was.

Art Center Summit 2009

Thu, 26 Feb 2009

The Art Center Summit, now in its third year, has finally seen the rest of the world catch up with its preoccupations. Initially conceived in 2006-07 to bring government, academic, and business leaders to Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, CA, to discuss issues related to mobility and sustainability, the summit has benefited from the financial turmoil that has recently gripped the world. Previously, the event was highly speculative and appealed mainly to designers working in the advanced mobility community; this year, the summit occurred against a backdrop of meltdown in the US auto industry, chaos in the global financial sector, and a growing realization - supported by the incoming Obama administration - that energy and transportation policy will form a key part of a Green future.
