For those who have attended one of our Car Design Nights at various auto shows around the world, you'll know they're a great place to catch up with fellow designers, make new contacts and unwind with an informal drink away from the show floor. The West’s perception of a 4×4 in India – the truth is quite different (click for full image) Car buyers in the West flooded in to SUVs / 4x4s of one sort or another over the last decade. But the current economic woes have brought the SUV bandwagon to an abrupt halt as buyers desert the SUV in droves in favour of something smaller and more economical. Indians can actually buy everything from the most popular Ford Endeavour through to a full blown Cayenne or Range Rover.

Concept Car of the Week: Chrysler Lamborghini Portofino (1987)

In 1987, Chrysler purchased the bankrupt Italian carmaker Lamborghini to add an exotic brand to its portfolio. In celebration of its acquisition, Chrysler announced it would unveil a futuristic concept car at the Frankfurt motor show bearing a unique logo with the Italian raging bull framed inside Chrysler's famous Pentastar. It was during an internal aerodynamic study that designer Kevin Verduyn drew the lines of a four-seater sedan concept called the Navajo.
