Gulfport, Mississippi, United States
Condition:Used

Amc 258 engine, came out of a 1974 CJ5.  Block has no visible cracking or issues, bores are not bad, judging by the lack of oversize marks on the pistons I believe its a virgin bore.  Has some surface rust on the cylinders, nothing that wont hone right out.  Little carbon buildup on the pistons but that's it.  I will pop off a main and rod cap or two for any seriously interested buyer, to give a idea of what condition the crank is in.  Engine sold as a shortblock, does not include timing chain or timing cover but does include block, pistons, connecting rods, crank, caps, large amounts of grease, and oil pan.  Please contact me for a freight quote, I will ship with most carriers but it will usually be the cheapest to ship fastenal to fastenal center.  If you are within 100 miles of 39501 I will deliver for 1$ a mile.

Mercedes SLS AMG E-Cell (2010): the electric SLS

Mon, 05 Jul 2010

Following the unveiling of Tesla's updated Roadster 2.5, Mercedes is showing off its iteration of an all-electric sports car: the SLS AMG E-Cell. While the regular SLS pumps out 563bhp and 479lb ft from its 6.2-litre V8, the SLS E-Cell has four synchronous electric motors, powering all four wheels for a combined output of 392kW (equivalent to 526bhp) and a mammoth 649lb ft of torque. Crucially, all of that power is accessible from zero revs, allowing the E-Cell to sprint to 62mph in four seconds dead.

Videos: Chris Bangle shares his views on design and the future of car design

Wed, 26 Oct 2011

Chris Bangle is a man that needs no introduction on these pages. Both revered and castigated, Bangle's work has undoubtedly been influential for a generation of designers. His unconventional practices – employed at a time when design was still largely segregated from other departments during the development process – yielded many avantgarde and contentious designs, but Bangle's fundamental understanding of the design process, creative vision and desire for change can never be cast in doubt. While Bangle shares his views on the future of the car in the video to the right, the video to the left provides an insight into the former BMW design chief's thought processes and gives us a glimpse into his home and studio in the Piedmont region of northern Italy.
