BMW X6 ActiveHybrid & BMW 7 Series ActiveHybrid at Frankfurt

Production versions of the BMW 7 Series & X6 ActiveHybrid will show at Frankfurt The Concepts for the ActiveHybrids were originally shown in 2008, and the production models are expected to be pretty much the same. They are in effect ‘Mild’ Hybrids, using a 20hp electric motor – with an additional 155lb/ft of torque – to add efficiency to the 4.4 litre twin-turbo V8. The electric motor will be fitted in the transmission housing and replaces stuff like the alternator and starter.

Nissan 370Z Nismo (2014) gets new look and aero

Due in late 2014, the 370Z Nismo gets a new aero kit, claimed to boost downforce ‘significantly’ at speed. Out goes the 2013 Nismo’s lairy rear wing for a more subtle, 911 2.7 RS-esque ducktail affair, which works in tandem with the new front splitter to evenly split more downforce over the front and rear axles.

Production of Camaro convertible to start in 2011

Despite General Motors' current economic woes, production of a convertible version of the Chevrolet Camaro is on track to start in early 2011. That is later than the original plan of having the ragtop Camaro go into production early next year, a GM spokesman told Automotive News. But the program was not canceled, just delayed, the spokesman said.
