The new Honda Insight hybrid is shown at the Detroit auto show

The new Honda Insight was unveiled at the Detroit Auto Show To hear Honda tell it, the new 2010 Insight coming to market this April is all about making hybrid technology available to Gen-Y. That's because it's smaller and less expensive than the class-leading Toyota Prius or Honda's own Civic Hybrid. Land Rover Expedition America presses on through the Rocky Mountains

Land Rover Expedition America is more than halfway across the country, three weeks after having departed Asheville, N.C., on their 5,000-mile route through 10 states. The team is traveling all the way across the country in three Land Rover LR4s -- from sea to shining sea if you will -- almost entirely off-road. The Oregon coast is their destination, and the team is following a route based on an off-road motorcycle trailed created by Sam Corero, a famous off-road motorcyclist who charted this trail back in the 1990s.

Google continues autonomous car tests [w/video]

Google is leading the charge towards the production of a fully autonomous car, releasing a video earlier this week of the car being tested on a programmed route. Steve Mahan, who is 95 per cent blind, successfully tested the car with Google engineers and a member of the local police close at hand should something go awry. Google kitted out a Toyota Prius with its software, taking the shape of a spinning cylinder on the car's roof, which senses traffic or activity close to the car and automatically adapts to its situation.
