AMG says along with the distinctive design, power comes from the world’s most authoritative four-cylinder series production engine. That would be the AMG 2.0-liter turbocharged four, producing 355 hp and 332 lb-ft of torque.

At its heart, the 450kg RP1 has a unique carbon-composite tub based on the designs of contemporary race cars. The driver will sit 'feet up', allowing for greater underfloor downforce, which goes some way to explaining how the car achieves a quoted 200kg of downforce at 100mph.

The Ferrari auction to raise money for victims of the earthquake in the Emilia Romagna region in Italy only kicked off two weeks ago, but has already ended with a total of over €1.8 million raised. The vast majority of the funds raised came from the sale of the Ferrari 599XX which sold to an American buyer for €1.4 million – almost a bargain.
